Speaker 1:

What's going on? Good, good, good people, welcome back to the 100 100 podcast. I am your host, amir, aka the black podcaster. Thank you guys for joining me. I appreciate you guys tuning in to another dope episode. Man, listen, if you are new to the podcast, please, please, please, hit that subscribe button. All right, we are coming to you once a week, sometimes twice a week if I'm feeling a little frisky, but we're coming to you most definitely once a week giving you guys some dope stuff to listen to on your way to work or on your way home, whatever, whatever you're doing cooking, listening or reading comics, bags and boards all that good stuff, man. We're going to bring you trending topics, comic book news, comic book, movie news all that good stuff, man, right here on the 100 100 podcast, man. So I appreciate you guys tuning in. We're available on all major platforms. So let's get to business, man. Well, actually no.

Speaker 1:

Before we get to business, I just wanted to say that I am reading a daily devotional every morning with my wife by Eric Thomas. I don't know if you guys know him. He's a motivational speaker. He is a pastor. I really enjoy listening to him. I've been listening to ET for a long time now. It's man, yeah, for probably like five a good five years maybe and he is. He's just a phenomenal dude man. He always has really good insight just on life and trying to be a better you.

Speaker 1:

So this devotional that I've been reading is called UOU365. I actually had the audio book. I listened to that. It was a great book. But then they put out another edition which was called the 365. Uou is a daily devotional and there's a lot of good stuff in there. Man, I really encourage you to go check that book out, go get it. You know, read it every day. It's a lot of good insight.

Speaker 1:

But lately the one I've been listening or I've been reading to, reading and rereading, is one is called You're the CEO of your Life. So basically it's just it was like a five part daily devotional. So it's just basically telling you what you need to do to take control over your life, and every devotional has a scripture to go with it. But it definitely gave me some good words to think about as far as just being a better person, a better husband, a better father and even a better podcaster. So when it's basically this whole, you know you are the CEO of your life it's just like listen, only you can stop you you know what I'm saying. Like you're in charge, you make the decisions, sometimes they're good, sometimes they suck, and you got to live with it, but you can't stop. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

And consistency is something that's big, you know, and with this podcast that I've been doing since 2018 or the very end of 2018, I'm right before January I've been consistent and then I've been inconsistent. I've been consistent and consistent and I decided today that I'm going to push this thing as far as I can go with it and I want to make sure that the one in 100 podcast is remembered as one of the dopest, realest podcasts that's come out as far as in the comic book space. Now, I'm not an expert. I've said this many times, my friends, that I've been on the show with me, which you know. Eventually we will be having them back on, if they will, you know, grace me with their conversation and presence. We will be bringing them back on, but right now, this is something I got to do. Do it by me, with me, only right now. But we're not experts. You know, none of the guys that have been on this show me, myself included we're fans and we enjoy this space and we enjoy the the hobby of collected comics. We enjoy being able to dissect some of these movies and some of these TV shows and love them and hate them, like it's just. It's just fun to be in this genre, in this space. You're never going to get an expert opinion on this show. You're going to get straight up fandom, the goods and the bad part. So I just wanted to say that, like I'm going to be here for a while, I'm going to be here for a while as long as God allows me to turn this microphone on and speak and edit these episodes and put them out to you guys. I'm going to be here at the one in one hundred podcast doing my thing to give you guys some weekly entertainment. So, with that said, let's jump into the quick hits man.

Speaker 1:

So we've talked a few times about Jonathan Majors and his situation and the ramifications it's having on the MCU and the position that it's put them in because they had so much built on the shoulders of Kang the Conqueror Right. I even talked about the audio book that I have called I think it's called Marvel, the reign of Marvel Studios, the MCU book by Joann Roberson, david Gonzalez and Gavin Edwards. That's a really good book. I got about six hours left on that book. I haven't had a chance to really get all the way through it because work has been crazy.

Speaker 1:

But they spoke about in this book how or at least it was previewed on about how the MCU was building everything around one character and how that's something that has never been done before in the MCU and we all know, like we've had movies about Iron man, thor, captain America, black Panther, hulk who else? Ant-man, like all of these stories, all these movies and stuff that we've seen. They've all had their own like sub-movie, like sub-division I guess, and then eventually they all kind of come together at one point to get Avengers, age of Ultron or Endgame or something like that. Like they all come together but they all had their own storylines that they were telling. And lately in the MCU obviously Phase Four was just a clusterfuck Like man. It was bad, it was bad. Yeah, I'm sorry, it was bad, it was bad.

Speaker 1:

But it's also been the situation with the MCU where they were trying to build everything around this Kang the Conqueror character, almost similar to how they were with Thanos. But it just hasn't really been gelling together and fans have been feeling it. We haven't really been happy with the whole Phase Four and the whole Kang the Conqueror situation that Marvel has right now and a lot of fans have been asking for this character just to be done with. Some want to continue to see the storyline, some want it to be recast it. We've had rumors about the recasting, but this article came out the other day I'm recording this actually late Wednesday night, but it came out on cbrcom and it says Marvel wanted to downplay Jonathan Majors Kang after Quantum Mania box office. So it said previously.

Speaker 1:

The Kang role was portrayed by Jonathan Majors before he returned in the second season of Loki. Majors debuted in the role in 2023 in the Ant-Man and the Wasquan of Mania. One month after the film released, majors was accused of assault, as we all know, and then he was later found later fired from the MCU's role upon being guilty at trial. Okay, we all know that. It's been reported that Marvel Studios will be shifting away from the plan focus on Kang, but according to a new report from the Hollywood Reporter, there were already talks about diminishing Kang's role in the MCU before Majors legal troubles. All right, let's go on a little bit.

Speaker 1:

Initially, the next Avengers film was set to be titled Avengers, kang Dynasty, which would have obviously featured Kang as a major character. The Hollywood Reporter reframed how Marvel Studios will be giving the film a new title and there are script rewrites taking place that will downplay Kang's present presence, if not outright removing him entirely. However, it's also noted that the report that Marvel was making moves to minimize the character already was because of underwhelming box office performance of the Quantum Mania movie with Ant-Man and the Wasp. So it goes on to talk about how there could have possibly been a recasting or maybe still is a possibility of a recasting with Coleman Domingo. That's been a rumor. We spoke about that here, but I wanna get into this article real quick.

Speaker 1:

Two things the box office for Ant-Man and the Wasp, quantum Mania yes, it was terrible. It was terrible. But John the Majors, as Kang the Conqueror was, he was great and bad for the movie. He was great because he outshined everybody in the movie. He was bad because the writing was terrible and it did not put fear in the fans' eyes when they looked at Kang the Conqueror. I wasn't scared of him. I didn't think that he was going to be able to accomplish much and by the end of the movie spoiler alert he got escorted out the club by a bunch of ants. Yeah, it wasn't a good look for Kang the Conqueror.

Speaker 1:

And once again, like I was saying earlier, the plans with Kang the Conqueror also included, like this big Avengers movie, with it being called Kang Dynasty. And you really cannot. It was really, it was gonna really be hard for Marvel to build on this character of Kang the Conqueror. Once he got dragged out and beat down by a bunch of ants and Ant-Man, he was already trapped in the quantum realm. So what kind of threat really is he to the Avengers? You know what I'm saying. So it just didn't seem like it was gonna be the right fit.

Speaker 1:

And if you think about it, you know Bob Iger, you know returning to his role as the big dog at Disney. When he reinstated Kevin Foggy, I'm pretty sure everybody in the Marvel Studios kind of knew like yo, it's about to be over for a lot of our scripts, it's about to be over for a lot of our movies. Because when he came back in and assumed his role as the chief, the chief rocker for the MCU, everything pretty much got switched up. I mean, we got basically we got a brand new Daredevil series. You know it was already done and he decided to basically say now y'all ain't good enough. You know, deciding to possibly go a different direction now with Kang and the fact that the character was already like they were already ready to cancel out the character anyway because of the sales and because of just it just wasn't good writing and it just wasn't working.

Speaker 1:

The fact that they're doing this makes me feel like Marvel is headed in the right direction. I mean, with this situation, with Captain America as a New World Order or something like that, with Falcon as Captain America or Sam Wilson as Captain America, like they're doing reshoots on that, like everything seems to be getting rebooted, a lot of things seem like they might not happen. Like I really don't know what happened to the Reevee Williams series. I mean, when Kevin Foggy announced that, like 15 years ago, it seemed like he was happy about it. But who knows, man, that movie's been done for a long time and we haven't heard a peep about it. So this was interesting to me that they was already thinking about going in a different direction. But it also makes me wonder what they would have done with with John, john the majors. I mean, you're already planning on where they just gonna do like a smaller version of Kang dynasty or something and just Kill the character off. Like how are they planning on proceeding if he wasn't found guilty? Like that? That's crazy. That's crazy to think about, because Now it kind of feels like they would have been held hostage by the character. You know if they were thinking about getting away from the character already, even before he was found guilty, even before the assault charges is based off of the Before the trial, because the assault happened right after the movie release. But you know, if they were already thinking that this character was gonna be a bust, what would they have done with John the majors? Because he turned in a great performance with what he had. He did a phenomenal job. But it makes me wonder what would they have done with John the majors if they? This was the plans to begin with.

Speaker 1:

So, moving forward, some other news came out that I spoke about On my Instagram page. I was, you know, doing my research for the show and everything. You can go check it out at the black podcaster with a six, not a B, on Instagram and I saw this article. It was a rumor from comic book movie calm. I don't know how real this rumor is, I don't, I don't really know, but it was cool to speculate and think about this. While I was getting prepared, it said rumor man of steel, henry Cavill has joined the MCU, but not as the fantastic fours, dr Doom. Now, when I, when I saw that headline I mean obviously I didn't, I didn't read any further, like, I'll be honest with you, this was a straight clickbait for me. It worked and it got me talking about it. So shout out to comic book movie calm, calm, what was it called? Yeah, come book movie calm. So when I saw this, it got me thinking, wow, that's interesting.

Speaker 1:

Like you know, I know a lot of people have been speculating since Henry Cavill got dropped from the DC us Superman that, hey, he should just go over to Marvel and get a job over there. Captain Britain would be great. You know, captain Britain would be the move. He should be Captain Britain or or he should just go be the century. I know they want the century in there and honestly, man, when I was hearing all these rumors and these speculators saying that he should do that, I mean honestly I was kind of like it just wasn't impressed. I wasn't impressed by any of that. Like I, I don't know much about Captain Britain, I'll be honest with you, but it just sounds like a boring ass character. It's like it just sounds boring and In the century it's just too on like on the nose. Is that what they say is too on the nose? Superman, like it's basically Marvel's Superman.

Speaker 1:

So, you know, going from super, from you know playing Superman, to being century, that's just weird. You know like, don't, don't, don't, do that. But when I saw the article said, but he's not gonna play dr Doom, I was, you know, on my Instagram I'll post a kind of said, well, why not? Like, I feel like that would be the role, that Actor, like Henry Cavill, who was a supposed to be a major part in the DCEU when it just didn't pan out, that would be the perfect turn for him. You know, like, everybody loved him as Superman, the way he was. You know the way he looked, the way he acted, he, everybody just said, like that is our Superman.

Speaker 1:

I feel like the best story for him to do would be to be a bad guy, just to be a straight-up doom. You know like, just go with it, man. Like terrorized, a fantastic, for you know, kick-ass and Secret Wars, if they do that, if they do that version of Secret Wars With with doom sitting on the throne, like I feel like that would just be so dope for him to go in that direction and it would allow him to be somewhat of a major part of a storyline and Marvel can kind of get back to Telling these individual stories. Yes, but you know he would be a part of the fantastic for story but all that would build up to Secret Wars and you can kind of see like his plot Maybe coming together to get to the Secret Wars. If he was playing, you know, victor von Doom, so I would, I would love to see him in that role. But then I would also like to see him be a part of another story, which would be the X-Men.

Speaker 1:

I would love to see Henry Henry Cavill as Magneto. I feel like he is a powerful enough actor to play Magneto. I Think he commands a presence that Magneto Does like in the comics and in the cartoons, where he looks like a leader. You know what I'm saying. So I would love to see him in that role. And then we've seen him in the Witcher with the white hair. But I would like it'd be cool if they gave him like that kind of like Jerry curl type of hairstyle that Magneto had In the in the 90s and stuff. It was kind of like like curly in the back, almost like a shag, I guess for white guys I don't know, but we've already seen him in the white hair and both of these characters in the comics like they're not like puny dudes oh, like they're not old-ass dudes in the comics, like yeah, they got gray hair. Like you know, magneto has gray hair but he still kind of looks young. You know I'm saying like he didn't crack at all in the comics. You know I'm saying like he was a Presentable older guy and I feel and he looks strong like I think I think Henry Cavill has it has the ability to pull off that character and the same with with doom and it'll be cool to see him in a period piece In either or like with Fantastic Four or or X-Men.

Speaker 1:

I feel like all those are about to come together and we're gonna wind up going in that direction and we're probably gonna wind up going away from the Avengers shit soon. I mean, we've done everything we can with the Avengers. In my opinion, it's time to take, take the story somewhere else. But yeah, man, and you know, even on Instagram I was getting some cool comments. Man, definitely go hit that post up and and leave a comment or a thought on who you would want to see Doom I mean Henry Cavill play.

Speaker 1:

But I did have some people on here. Let me see. Yeah, somebody said Magneto on here I think it's G GLP comics 75 said Magneto. Somebody said they wouldn't be surprised if it was Sentry. Someone said, well, hey, if Wolverine could be, it could be Hugh Jack. I mean, if Hugh Jackman could be Wolverine, you know, he feels like, you know, he could, this guy could play, you know, doom. Well, somebody brought up Silver Surfer, which I thought was interesting. I mean, he has, he could probably would be a pretty dope Silver Surfer. I might have him on front. But yeah, yeah, yeah. So it was, it was, it was a cool little little topic that I thought when I saw that I'm just like nah, man, don't, please, don't make him a good guy, man, make him a bad guy, you know, and I want those guys to be evil like I want them to be bad, you know. So I feel like that would be dope.

Speaker 1:

But listen. Let's take a quick break here and we'll come back. I got a stack of books here that I want to talk about, some that I read, some that I didn't. Like I said, it is late night, wednesday, so it is new comic book day that I'm recording on, so I picked up some stuff. I didn't get a chance to read it and I was catching up with books from last week. So, yeah, we'll talk about that and in a little bit more after this. And we are back.

Speaker 1:

You're listening to the one and 100 podcasts. I'm your host, amir, aka the black Podcast. Yeah, man, we're back here. Like I said, I got a stack of books here that I wanted to talk about, some that I read, some that I did not. One of them is a mail call, actually. So, yeah, it was. It was. It's an exciting new comic book date, so let's get into it. It's time for. So, for those that are new to the podcast, once again, first off, hit that subscribe button if you're new. You don't want to miss out on some of the dope Comic book talk.

Speaker 1:

You know this is a. This is a very Fun part of the show for me, because this is where it all started for me, man, like, when it comes to podcasting, it started all based on on comics. I used to review music as well, but it was all comic book talk, like. I never even talked about trending topics when I first started, it was straight up, three comic books and here's some music that I listened to while I was reading the comics. You know. So it was. It was very, it was pretty simple. But listen, comics are the shit man. You know, I can't even lie. I enjoy reading comics. I enjoy Going to the comic book shop and and speaking to everybody about what you know, what they're reading and things like that. But let's get into it All right.

Speaker 1:

So the mail call is actually From Rodney Barnes and the good folks over there was as zombie love studios. They did a. They did like a competition or you know, a contest that my homie og rich from black comic lords. He actually tagged me in the post and I tagged him in the post and we both won an autograph copy of Kill Adolfi issue 31. Yeah, I was excited about this. I actually forgot about it. That tells you how crazy life is right now. I actually forgot this was even coming in the mail.

Speaker 1:

So when my daughter gave me the package. She was like, hey, you got this. You know, this package is like certified Package letter, like real nice thick cardboard. I'm like what the heck is this like? I Hope this ain't no damn bill. So you know, I opened it up and there goes kill Adolfi, assigned by Rodney Barnes. It's the cover with spawn kind of like looking real gruesome and Zombie like and monster like. So yeah, I got that. I already had this cover already, but now I got assigned so, yeah, I'm definitely gonna sound that. Might that might actually be one of those books that I send off to. Was it CBCS or CGC? I might have to hit up Reggie collects to see how the hell I do that.

Speaker 1:

The next book that I got that I actually read was Miles Morales, spider-man issue 16, gang wars. Listen, I'm just gonna say this I'm glad this gang warship is over. Okay, I am so, so done with this. If it wasn't for Cody Ziggler being just a fire writer, I Probably would have been highly upset with this, mainly because I feel like they continue to Block Cody Ziggler from doing what he's been wanting to do with Miles Morales by doing all these tie-ins and these crossover events. So we're finally getting out of this. This was a legacy number 298, so the next issue apparently supposed to be like some crazy Battle, I'm guessing, between rabble and and miles. And well, it says somebody, a villain, that once Miles did and she's the only one that's been ready to kill this fool, so I'm guessing it's gonna be a battle between the two of them. That book actually comes out next week, also with spider punk. So Cody Ziggler's got two books coming out next week, which is dope, so yeah. So yeah, it said it's supposed to be leading into a crazy event for issue 300, legacy number 300. So, but it was a good read because Cody Ziggler is just a badass writer and I love that guy.

Speaker 1:

Blade, issue number eight by Brian Edward Hill. What can I say about blade? The boy is going to hell. The boy is going to hell and he needed some help getting there and I cannot wait to see where this story goes. I know the blood hunt story is coming and this wasn't.

Speaker 1:

This didn't have that much action in it. I would say I don't think it did. I remember, but it didn't. It wasn't any memorable action in this. But I know he is going to hell. He's got, he's got some really Interesting things that are going to be going on. Hold on, hold on. Let me open this thing real quick. I just I just wanted to be sure. I don't think there was much action in this and oh yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah it was. It was a lot of conversations. He did meet up with a character that he had killed already and they're supposed to be teaming up to go against. What's the name of the woman's name? I think it's a Donis or something like that the, the, the lady has basically taken over the world right now with all the darkness. Anyway, sorry, I don't have no notes in front of me, but this was, is. This is an awesome story. I love this book. I love it with Brian.

Speaker 1:

Edward Hill is doing with this, like I said he's. They got the crossover story coming up, with the blood hunt Situation going on. I know there's going to be Black Panther. It's gonna be a part of it. Miles is gonna be a part of it again. Unfortunately, it's gonna be a lot of tie-ins that going with this. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to that Night thrasher issue one.

Speaker 1:

I read this. This is probably going to be a trade for me going forward and I'll be honest with you. I was. I did not read new warriors. I probably should read new warriors, at least volume one. For what I've been you know what I've been told and what I've heard from the homies over there at Black Comic Lords I should probably give volume one a read, because a lot of this shit, I didn't know what the hell's Going on because they were talking about bullshit that happened in the past and I was just like, okay, and then who? And then what? So? But listen, it's actually a really well-written story, I will say that, and the last page revealed was a oh shit moment, which I do like.

Speaker 1:

But I feel like I am not in the space that I need to be in To read this book because I don't know what the hell is going on. I'm a little lost and I'm mad because I Mean it's only a mini series, and I feel bad because it's a black character. I try to support all of my black character. You know comic books, but Unfortunately your boy is lost. Your boy is lost. So these are the books that I picked up today.

Speaker 1:

I picked up the six fingers. These are all image books. Actually picked up the six fingers, which is Is a tie-in to the one hand story that I talked about last week or the week before. I think it was the week before. Yeah, cuz I just did the fantastic for news last week. So the week before I talked about a story called the one hand, and that story is being told from the point of view of a detective who has been on a case for pretty much his whole career of, you know, trying to take down a serial killer and his copycats right and he gets him, puts him in jail, and then somebody else takes up the mantle, so to say. And then I have now you have this story, the six fingers, which is the point of view of the character who is actually Committing these murders, who's now stepping into this copycat role. Essentially, at least we think that's what it is. So, yeah, you get the point of view of that, and this is written by Dan waiters. The other story is written by Ram V. So it's really cool, super dark. It's in the future. I love it.

Speaker 1:

Midlife how to how the hero at the age of 50. This is issue five. I love this story because I feel like this is gonna be me at 50 years old. You know, I'm gonna be trying to be a hero still, and it's probably gonna be by accident, just like how this character became a hero. If you haven't, if you're not reading this, this is probably one of the most Relatable books that anybody could read, from a male point of view and a female point of view, like it's. It's really cool. You should read it. And it's only five issues in.

Speaker 1:

I think it's gonna take a break after issue, maybe six, maybe, or this could be the last. This could be the last story in the story arc, but I know, I know it's. It's ongoing for the for the time being, and in the last book I read I have that I'm going to be reading tomorrow morning during my breakfast at work. I don't care what nobody says, do you hear me? Nobody disturbed me, all right, nobody disturbed. Yeah boy, we got firepower. This is issue 30. It's the last issue in firepower. Now Let me tell you something about firepower.

Speaker 1:

I Stopped reading firepower because of money. I was like you know what? Firepower is good, but it's not great. I feel like you know I'm not gonna be missing out on anything if I don't read it. So I stopped buying it and then I slowly started to regret it. I didn't regret it Four months later. So I decided you know what, I'm gonna go hunt these books down. So I hunted the last four issues down that I had missed out on and it brought me up to date, got the books, read them, loved them, put it back on. My pull is I'm like, nah, I can't miss out on this story. So it's actually phenomenal.

Speaker 1:

I was lying to myself, you know, something like I was. I was straight up lying to myself. I saw that oh yes, new issues are coming out. You know, I was like let's go, baby, let's go. Then issue what? 27 came out and it was like, yo, we got three more issues to go and then it's over. I was like, come on, bro, like how you gonna end it on 30, like that, what's your boy? I just got back in the game. So, yeah, this is the last issue of firepower. It's been incredible.

Speaker 1:

I want to say maybe issue it might have been to issue 27. There was a moment it might have been issue 27 or 28, but there was a moment where one of a Character passed away. I don't want to spoil it because you guys should read this. I think you can get it in two trades or two hard hard covers. But there was a moment when a character died and one of the other younger characters was, you know, writing letters to this character in the middle of this war that's going on with these dragons and stuff is crazy. And when they find out that this character dies, oh my god, like I really felt the tears Coming out of this character's eyes and I got like the knot in the back of the throat. I was like, oh damn, I'm just reading a comic man. Calm down, baby.

Speaker 1:

So it's a very well-written story by Robert Kirkman and Chris Sammy. They both have been on like they haven't taken the issue off, like Chris Sammy's done all the artwork and Obviously, robert Kirkman has written this story from issue one all the way through. But I will say, if you do decide to pick this up, there is a prelude story that came out for this. It's in a trade. You need to read that, like you have to read that. So that was really cool.

Speaker 1:

The last issue is like a double size issue 599 price. I got the cover with the family on there, all with the fireball. It was really cool, man. So, yeah, that's, that's it for reads of the week, man. Hopefully you got something out of that I didn't do much reviewing on those books, but Hopefully you got something out of it and you take yourself to a comic book shop and go start a pool list.

Speaker 1:

Man, I don't care what nobody says, comics are back. I'm sorry, like I used to have to be very picky with my books. Probably the last year and a half or so I was very, very picky with what I was reading, but it seems like Every time I want to bring my pool list down, something comes out that I have to go get Like damn. So to me American comics are on their way back. I think we kind of starting to get rid of that Speculation Shit. I think we're starting to get that out the way. I think we're finally starting to get a different breed of writers coming into the game.

Speaker 1:

Shout out to my guy oh gee, rich once again. He suggested that I go read the outsiders, and that's kind of something that we do. I'll suggest something to him. He goes and checks it out. He yells at me because it was a good story and now he has to put it on his pool list. And then I hear that he, you know, I see something that he suggests and I yell at him because he knows I'm probably gonna go get it and he suggested me, suggested that I read the outsiders, the new outsider story, think it's like four issues in and I'm pretty sure I can find it somewhere at one of the shops. So I'm probably gonna wind up getting that shit on Friday. But That'll do it for this segment of. So let's transition into the last Segment here, the breakdown, and then I'm gonna go ahead, and so let's transition into the last segment here, the breakdown. And I'll be honest with you, I'm still doing research on this topic because it's it's very interesting. It's kind of how I want to say, is new, but it's new to me, man, and I was reading the article.

Speaker 1:

Warner Brothers Discovery could start discussing a Merge or a sell very soon. They have discussions on a merge or a Another sell and we know they just Warner Brothers Discovery just merged together and apparently the doors will be opening again, because that was only like a two-year merger and, if you've noticed, a lot of Warner Brothers Discovery's content has been going out to different. You know, streaming services, like a lot of the DC stuff I just found out that warrior is on Netflix, which I'll be starting this weekend Just a lot of like stuff is going to to be like this is weird. So Now I'm seeing that they're possibly gonna be for sale again and but at the same time, they just struck a deal with Tom Cruise. Warner Brothers, discovery just struck a deal with Margot Robbie to Do some films, but these films they're saying Are going to be on the big screen, like these films are not going to be coming straight to streaming.

Speaker 1:

And as I was reading this article, let me tell you where I got the article from that way. This is this article actually was on comic book calm. So you know, as I'm reading the article, they're talking about how the reason why they Did a deal with these actors and these big time you know, these, these are stars the reason why they're doing these deals with all these different stars is because they want to make the pot look sweet, you know, to get a new partner. But their focus when they get this next partner, or whoever they sell it to, is because they want to get back in the big time moves. They want to. They want to bring all this stuff to the film. So I'm thinking they're going to merge with somebody else.

Speaker 1:

The speculation was like NBC or something like that and they're trying to sweeten the pot so that they can start making these amazing films again and getting asses back in seats the way it was supposed to be. And I also heard today on another podcast and it was crazy because I was reading this article and then he started talking about Disney and Bob Iger and how Disney Plus is no longer going to be like the main focus for Disney, especially when it comes to movies. They're going to make sure that all that Real straight to streaming shit is going to be out of here. So, basically, they're refocusing and wanting to make sure that they get asses in seats. So I started thinking like man, these are, these are two. I started thinking like man, these are, these are two Top streaming services. Right, you got Disney plus, you got max, which is basically Warner Brothers Discovery. There are two major ones that are putting their they're trying to put their focus back in the theaters. No, no more direct to streaming type of stuff. No more. Let me rephrase that no more Direct to streaming quality type of movies, because the movies they want them to go straight to the theaters and stay in the theaters for a Long time, but the quality is not good enough For these movies to make money in the film, in the movie theaters. So they just got to get them out of theaters and just get them to the people. So you got those two companies.

Speaker 1:

You got Amazon, who is Making these really good, interesting movies and TV shows, but a lot of their stuff is TV shows like the Amazon movies they they need to be on streaming. But a lot of their shows Like they're making top-notch shows, like I'm watching the Tom Clancy man oh, what is it called? I know it's a Tom Clancy joint oh, let me see. Let me see. I hate when I forget stuff. Let me open up my Amazon Prime real quick. Jack Ryan I'm watching Jack Ryan right now. I watched, I'm gonna watch one of watching Reacher for sure. I think that's a movie, though I don't know if that's Tom Clancy. I watched the one with Michael B Jordan and Tom Clancy, I think it's with outward Morse. Like they do good movies, but their shows like the boys, invincible, jin V, like they make some really damn good shows like don't sleep on Amazon, so they're good.

Speaker 1:

But then Netflix Netflix seems to be moving towards the reality TV type of stuff and they're just, they're just starting to pull from everybody, like there's some DC shit on there. They got some HBO or some Mac stuff that's coming over to them. So this is like Netflix is getting back in the game when it comes to like, bring your stuff here, we'll make sure people see it, and then we'll do like some other, like you know, documentaries and little mini series. Like we're doing like little TV stuff and reality TV stuff. Like I'm gonna lie me and my wife, we've been watching love is blind. That's our show. Like I love love is blind. So when I sit here and I see all of these things In all these changes Coming to the platforms that were pushing the hardest max was pushing hard with DC.

Speaker 1:

A Disney plus was pushing very hard with Marvel and their shows, and now everybody's trying to redirect and refocus on this, on Cinema, like actually putting it in the theaters. To me I'll be honest with you, it sounds like the streaming platforms is about to come to an end, and not in a way where we're not going to have them anymore, but in a way where the movies that are gonna be hitting the theaters is gonna be taking a long time before that even longer time before they hit streaming. It's not gonna be that movie flops and they go right there. Like I feel like that movies gonna flop in the theaters and then they're gonna make you pay for it on streaming. You know, I'm saying like they're gonna make you do it with Amazon does Like Amazon had the marvels on there, but I think you had to pay for it for like two weeks before it went back to Disney, before it went to Disney plus. So I think that they're gonna start doing that on their platform. So that way it on miss out on that dollar.

Speaker 1:

If you want to see this movie so bad, you're gonna pay us to see it. You already got the streaming platform. You know I'm saying this is a good thing. I'm gonna be like you already got the streaming platform. You know I'm saying that you might as well just pay the extra $20 to see the movie at home. You know like it's just the same price that you would have seen at the theater. So I think it's gonna be some major, major train changes to the streaming platforms and it could be for the better.

Speaker 1:

Maybe, you know, I don't know maybe we'll just get better quality movies, better quality TV shows when, now that we're gonna be trimming the fat, they're gonna be trimming the fat of the BS and they're gonna start putting out Things that people really want to go to the movies and see and then maybe the stuff that they put on their streaming will be things that are Directly tied into the movie somehow, because a lot of the shows yeah, wanda vision, you got Captain America and Winter Soldier, you got Loki those all pretty much tied into something else. Well, I don't know about Loki now, but you know Captain America, winter Soldier is now gonna be leading into the New World Order. Hopefully we'll see Wanda vision led into Doctor Strange. But the problem was nobody saw Wanda vision. Now a lot of people saw Wanda vision that were casual fans, so it didn't cross over right. So maybe if they put all their money into their theater I mean into the theater and to cinema and make people go from there back to Disney Plus, not the other way around it might work. Same goes for Disney. I mean for DC and Warner Brothers. You know we got the Batman right, but now we got the penguin. So now they have the formula right. We got the Batman, now we're gonna bring our asses over here to streaming and we're gonna make you watch the penguin. So I don't know.

Speaker 1:

It's just something for us to kind of keep our eyes on Because I feel like there's gonna be some changes. People are back outside. Nobody's really Fearing COVID like they once were. You know I had COVID a couple, you know at the beginning of the new year which sucked, but thank God, and you know, I was able to recover. My wife was able to get better. So you know, we have medications and different things that we can take, so people aren't as scared of these things. I'm not gonna say don't be cautious, but people aren't as terrified of COVID as they once were and the world is like really open. It's really open right now, especially over here. So we're gonna see how this, how these things, affect the way we see movies and TV shows, and I'm here for it. I can't wait to see how these changes go. But that'll do it.
